When I talk about fitness and the supplements and products I use to help me along my fitness journey, I always look for organic, mindful, sustainable, and "clean" products, although admittedly, some of the products I swear by are probbaly not the best for me. Harm reduction is key for me, and you'll find that in this list, whether it's about replacing a dessert, or finding a filler-free preworkout alternative. As with every recommendation I make, I actively use, or have used, every product on this list, and recommend based on first hand experience only.

Nutricost Organic Egg White Protein
What's worse than a horrible protein powder? We've all been there - blind buying the protein powder on sale, only to get home and discover it's chalky or sandy, and generally hard to swallow. With price of protein powder these days, you might just put up with it, but why should you? Nutricost Egg White Protein (I choose organic) is completely flavorless, and is not only 15g of protein per serving, it dramatically improves the mouth feel of even the nastiest protein powder. Why suffer when you can turn your 25g of protein shake into a 40g one that feels like drinking a milkshake?
ProMix Blood Flow, Berry Beets
This is one of those products that you don't think you need until you've actually tried it. I am by no means a runner, but within the first 3 gym visits of using this, my run time doubled (from 1 mile to 2, but still). I have no idea if it's the product or the placebo effect, but I'm confident this product is worth the price, and even if you don't feel a difference, it tasted incredible. P.S the beets are organic!
Nutricost Organic Vegan Protein, Chocolate Peanut Butter
One of the ways I substitute a dessert is by making a smoothie protein powder, frozen fruit, peanut butter, Ripple milk, and psyllium husk (listed later in this post). The key ingredient? Chocolate Peanut Butter protein powder from Nutricost. The result is essential a protein frosty. I'd rank it higher, but it is too high in sodium to be used more than once a day. SO, I highly recommend for a healthier kind of "cheat" shake or something special to prevent a worse-for-you alernative. It's great to have handy for hankerings.
Built Puff Protein Bars
Much like #8 on this list, this item is essentially a trade off for a dessert, but in this case, you can probably get away with eating more than one a day. If you're a gym-goer, you know the importance of getting a quick hit on the walk/drive home after a workout - the first 3o mins post-workout are the best time to absorb protein. With these, you can get your protein intake without a ton of carbs or calories, and with a chewy marshmallowy interior that is nothing like any protein bar I've ever had. The variety pack is the best place to start because the flavors are endless and always rotating. If you buy directly through the Built website, use code KOMFORT for 10% off!
Animal Nutrition M Stak
As a lifelong vegetarian, building muscle for me has been a struggle lasting as long as I've been hitting weights. This won't make up for protein imbalance, but it will get you past a lifting plateau easy peasy, and if you take the preworkout pill with these others, you can take an additional supplement out of your rotation (and costs). I went up at least 10lbs on all weight machines the first time I took this, and while I was constantly hungry, that is probably why it's so effective - you eat what you need to grow. I've taken it several times and swear by it for summer body prep!
Viva Naturals Organic Psyllium Husk Powder
I don't want to overshare, so I'll keep it brief - this is a must-have to have a perfect morning, if you catch my drift. You'll be running like clockwork, your smoothies will have a thicker, better consistency (see #8), and your tummy will thank you in the long run. I love organic, and I love single ingredient fixers; this is both. Get it. Seriously.
ProMix Preworkout Powder, Mango
I would be remiss if I pretended I am not fully addicted to, and reliant upon, preworkout powders to get my butt to the gym. Sadly, preworkouts are almost always filled with artificial colorants, sucralose and fake sugars, and other fillers and scary ingredients. I love ProMix because I don't have to read their ingredients, but when I did, I realized it's colored with turmeric, sweetened with monk fruit, and free of GMOs. It also doesn't make your face tingle and will get you moving, fast. A bit more pricey than C4, but worth every penny for the healthier ingredients!
Yoken Vitamin E Oil
Ok, so it's technically not a supplement, but I consider this a must-have for several reasons. First, if you're growing muscle, you may or may not deal with stretch marks, which are much harder to get rid of than they are to get. This oil is a game changer for stretch marks and general skin texture and dryness. The second quality that I love almost as much, as it's protective layer when you sit in a sauna. As someone with eczema who also loves a sweat after a workout, I put on a nice layer of vitamin e oil and when I get out of the sauna my skin is softer than it's ever been. Every time. Even if you don't work out, you and your skin will thank me if you add this to your skin care routine!
Animal Pak Vitamins
Like I mentioned before, as a vegetarian it is almost impossible to get some of the vitamins needed to build muscle or just be generally healthy. While I don't know that Animal is the absolute best, I did find that these made me feel amazing, my stamina went up, my endurance increased, and I felt like a 13 year old again. Although they are a bit pricey for a vitamin, I recommend them highly, especially for vegetarians.
ProMix Whey Protein, Cinnamon Swirl
Well, have you figure out how much I freaking love ProMix? Yeah, it would be a problem if they weren't absolute rockstars when it comes to what? INGREDIENTS people, ingredients! This powder tastes absolutely insane, like your leftover milk after a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, it's like most everything I love in this world, a dessert with health benefits. Organic, non-GMO ingredients, grass-fed whey, and free of dyes, artificial sweeteners, and colorants - I genuinely cannot recommend this product enough. It is my go-to for everyday protein needs post-workout or just as a snack. You will love it or I will hand write an apology note to you.
